This book (Kindle) was a nice review of how to focus and take the Med Surg Certification test. It DOES NOT go through each system I.E. Cardiovascular, Respiratory, GI, GU etc. So i strongly suggest supplementary material. It touches base on the nursing process, assuming you have a background already in Med Surg nursing. The 150 question test at the end is good review of nursing process, and general knowledge such as Root Cause Analysis, Cost-effective Anylysis, Nursing Care Act, etc...Certain things you may not see studying plain med surg. 5/5 for being a great test prep guide.
I studied about a month before I tested. The tips for testing were helpful and the content helped to condense to know what to study. The questions were good especially with the narratives of each question. I passed of my first attempt so I will give it a 5 star!!!
I find this book to be very helpful. I love how it contains both significant nursing information along with practice questions. I recommend this book to everyone who is studying for the Medical-Surgical Nurse Certification Exam.

In my opinion it is not boring to read because only significant and important information are given in the book. The Medical Surgical Nurse Exam book has relevant information in a condensed format necessary to prepare for the Medical Surgical Exam. As a busy mother, wife, and working full time, I appreciate the information being condensed. With lots of reading needed for preparation; the book does not waste time; it gets right to the point.
I am taking the test for a second time and so far everything I missed on the test is in this review. This book is short and to the point!
Shorter review. Many of the questions were not challenging enough. There are 150 practice questions with explanations.
I feel the book is short but concise. It doesn’t go into great detail of everything to cover but I feel it is enough as a refresher of the material. One of the greatest hurdles with taking this test is simply getting back into the book and answering questions. Understanding the question is the key to success with taking this exam and this book helped me significantly in doing so.
