Let me start out by saying: I took and passed the CWDP test, but I've been a WiFi engineer for many years and had much more knowledge than just the data in this book to pull from. I just wanted people reading this review to know there are no sour grapes here, I took it and passed... This review is about quality and usefulness of the CWDP study guide book specifically, and not a commentary on the exam itself.If you're considering buying this book to learn about WiFi, you could certainly do worse. They touch on many topics WiFi professionals need to think about (examples: warehouse dynamics with varying stock and ceiling mounted APs, QoS tagging, etc.). Many of the softer topics (statements of work, master service agreements, high level docs, low level docs, etc.) are HIGHLY debatable, so read those sections understanding they are general guidelines not hard and fast rules, despite the way the summary questions address the topics as hard-lined. There are things in documents, for example, that this book either doesn't address or claims are, or are not, included in the real life versions of these documents. But, it offers a decent starting point if you've never dealt with some of these document types.But, given this book is earmarked as the study guide for the CWDP, I had to give it 2 stars. There are 15 chapters, but the actual test pulled from around 7 of them and the rest of the chapters were not covered at all on the exam (I won't discuss which, to keep exam information confidential). This exam seemed to be pulled mostly from the CWNA and CWSP, with a little bit from the CWAP. Very little actual design information was covered, just the thought process: "You need to design the network for VoIP when the requirements of the customer are for VoIP. Next, use the manufacturers recommendation on how to design things for VoIP which vary by manufacturer thinking about how the standards work. Finally, validate your design." Uh, ok, so what about some examples of that? What types of RSSI and SNRs are you after? How much cell overlap for roaming? What would co-channel interference look like using survey tools? Like I said earlier, I do this for a living so I know the answers, and I know what things don't have rigid answers, but I couldn't hand this book to a junior engineer and expect them to be able to design much of anything, or pass the CWDP test.In summary, I have the utmost respect for the CWNP folks. I'm glad there is a certification track focused on the technology and not specific to any particular manufacturer. However, I'm afraid reading the CWDP book won't produce a design engineer, nor will learning the information contained in this CWDP study guide guarantee a passing score on the CWDP exam. I was very pleased with some of their other books (Wireless# now CWTS, CWNA, CWSP, etc.) but the CWDP book was a let down.
Although the book is dated with missing some 8.2.11 technology post 2011 it is still a excellent book and one that I recommend to anyone taking the CWDP
Overall, it was a good book, but it could have had more information on 802.11n. Also, I couldn't find any information throughout the book on 802.11ac and considerations with that.

I must read for all aspiring WiFi engineers!
I really liked the CWDP self study guide. It should be in the reading list of any WiFi professional in the market. It does address relevant topics that we face everyday when designing WLAN networks.
